Safety in Teamworking

Teamworking and Cellular organisation is the efficient and cost effective way to get the most out of the workforce; utilising manageable groups, flexibility and multi-skilling. However, losing the traditional formal organisational responsibilities can in some cases, compromise safety, due to lack of awareness, authority and safety management skills.

This course covers not only the essentials of safety, but also applies the subject to the philosophy of teamworking and using practical situations (or site visits) gives the confidence and competence to get the most out of teamworking without increase in risk

Course outline

This 3 day course covers the expectations and requirements for those with who are working in teams. Participation is encouraged and time will be allocated for group discussion, syndicate work and site visits:

  • The philosophy of teamworking
  • Where problems can arise
  • The costs of poor safety performance
  • Employers duty of care
  • Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
  • Relevant standards and regulations (Specific to requirements)
  • The role of the teamleader
  • The role and support of the team member
  • Workplace Inspections
  • Site inspection and feedback
  • An understanding of Risk assessments
  • Site risk assessment and feedback
  • The creation of safe systems of work
  • Accident causation, prevention and investigation
  • Accident investigation exercise
